Embryo Adoption

New Life Family Services works in collaboration with Snowflakes Embryo Adoption Program, a division of Nightlight Christian Adoptions in California, to provide home studies for prospective adoptive families seeking to adopt embryos for implantation. The home study process is very similar to the process for couples seeking traditional adoption services; however, your social worker will focus on the uniqueness of embryo adoption. Prospective adoptive parents are chosen by expectant parents in much the same way as in a traditional open adoption and can expect the possibility of face-to-face meetings and on-going contact. Families interested in working with New Life Family Services for embryo adoption are first required to complete and submit Preliminary Application.

After the initial Preliminary Application, the following are fees paid to New Life for an Embryo Adoption:

$500 00 Application Fee

Due upon approval of the formal application

This fee covers the application processing and acceptance into the program

$3,000 00 Adoption Study Fee and Post Placement Visit

Due upon adoption study approval; This fee covers the following services:

Education: One-on-one adoption education, resource recommendations and referrals

Meetings and Assessment: Discussion of options in embryo adoption, preparation for parenthood and adoption, openness in adoption, transracial adoption education (if applicable), reference requests, compiling medical, financial, mental health history, other verifications, writing of adoption study which fulfills state-mandated requirements for the adoption study

$500 00 Post Placement Visit and Report: Conducted in the home at six weeks postpartum as required by Snowflakes Embryo Adoption Program; includes documentation required for Snowflakes Program

New Life Family Services also offers full and limited services to both expectant parents and adoptive parents for domestic adoptions.  Should a family choose domestic adoption after an embryo adoption study is complete, prospective adoptive parents may transfer into our domestic adoption program for an additional $1000 Study Transfer Fee.

The Snowflake program and NEDC charges additional fees, and these are found on their websites. Families will also need to work with their fertility clinic for implantation at their own expense. For more information about the Snowflakes program and NEDC, visit their website at http://www.nightlight.org/snowflake-embryo-adoption/.

If you have further questions about this type of adoption, please contact our Administrative Social Worker at 612-746-5658 for more information. In addition, our adoption workers also offer limited counseling services to those considering embryo donation or embryo adoption at a rate of $7500 per hour.
