Like you, our hearts have been so heavy with the events unfolding across the country and in our own backyard starting with the tragic death of George Floyd last week. This is close to home for us, and for the families we serve. It is painful and a heavy weight to bear.

God through Scripture, instructs believers to live in a way that attests to the value of life across cultures, age, gender, and ethnicity (Jeremiah 1:5, Jeremiah 22:3, Galatians 3:28, Deuteronomy 10:18). The sanctity of life is something we, as an organization, have always stood for.

George Floyd was created in the image of God, his life had value and we grieve that it was unjustly taken. We grieve over the brokenness and prejudice of incidents like this one, that have existed in our cities, systems, neighborhoods and relationships for far too long. We grieve over the residual chaos and destruction of our community, leaving many families and individuals in even more desperate situations.

Through our grief, New Life will continue our commitment to serve and to strengthen families, and to support the communities that are hurting. Please join us in praying for peace and justice. For service opportunities, we encourage you to follow Transform Minnesota (our parent organization) as they continually update a list of service opportunities around the city.

Micah 6:8 “He has shown thee, oh man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
