As our fiscal year is wrapping up, I cannot help but think about the turmoil of this past year. While it has been almost exactly one year since the COVID-19 crisis hit, in some respects, it feels much, much longer. Although there has been instability in almost every aspect of life, I can also see God’s handiwork. One image keeps coming to mind: A solid foundation.
Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25
At New Life, much of the work we do is geared toward building a solid foundation:
For Life – In the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy, support is critical. Giving clients a safe place to process, the truth through ultrasound and someone to walk alongside them sets the foundation for making healthy, life-affirming decisions needed to thrive.
For Families – Whether it is helping build families through adoption or through our Every Family parenting program, our goal is to equip and empower our parents through education, spiritual support and hands-on training. Our desire is to not only see growth and restoration for the families we serve today, but to lay the foundation for future generations.
For Healing – We know many women and men struggle greatly after an abortion. Our Conquerors program gently leads our clients into the loving hands of Jesus, our solid rock. As He is able to touch some of the deepest wounds with His grace, a new foundation is built.
For the Future – This spring we anticipate building a literal foundation for our new south Minneapolis (Phillips) location. That, however, is only the beginning. Our hope is that this new building will be the catalyst for thousands of life-saving, transformative encounters that will leave a generational impact within the community.

A Choice For Life
When Olivia* called to schedule her free ultrasound at First Care, she told our staff she already had her abortion appointment scheduled. She seemed determined it was her only option. During her ultrasound appointment, she began to soften as our nurse showed her the beautifully clear image of her baby on the screen and she met her child for the first time.
Our staff took time to listen to her, talk through all of her options, and offer tangible support. Olivia was really engaged in the conversation, but left the center that day still undecided about what to do. Our client advocate followed up with her and was able to continue the relationship over the following weeks and months, helping her through difficult circumstances and finding needed resources. She called our staff to share that she decided to parent her child and chose life! Recently, Olivia brought in her baby to meet the staff who had walked alongside her in this journey.
